Gaining Clarity
Eden H. (Fellows 2025-26) says that she came into the program wanting to quit her job. But she was struggling a great deal over that. She explains that she’d read the book, Do Hard Things, as a teenager. “And it was just pivotal in my high school brain,” she says. “Like, if something’s hard and you don’t see it through, that’s a moral failing.”
Eden laughs recalling how one fall day she’d brought a particularly candid question to Program Director, Hahna Kimbrough: “I asked her if was normal to hate every aspect of your job.”
The November session with Dr. Michaela O’Donnell, focused on calling, was transformational for Eden. She says she grew in understanding herself more deeply. “I realized that I actually don’t care that much about what particular job [I have] as much as whether that job lets me be who God has called me to be.” Between that session’s activity on identifying sources of motivational energy and her discussions with her Huddle members around themes in Michaela’s book and how those related to her job struggles, she gained further clarity. “It was just a perfect environment to be able to ask the questions I was wrestling with,” says Eden.
Eden ultimately ended up resigning from her position. “There’s risks in leaving a job, but it did just feel like the [Fellows] program gave me the tools and resources and the support to take the risk.”
We are happy to report that Eden found a new job a few months ago with a ministry serving single moms. She’s loving it!
